In Horndean about 120 publishers but in Spain it fluctuated massively. Some weeks we had more tourists than locals with some locals very inactive. Publishers was about 15 or 20 but including visitors we might get up to 45 bums on seats in the summer.

I think its very clever the way adverts pertain to our recent internet activity. Not sure what your adverts are but mine are clothing, handbags, shoes and banking. All the things I was doing before coming on JWN.

I don't understand life or the universe
by Decided ini'm 75 years old and am confused about life and god.
all explainations seem made up by some religious person or some written book that doesn't make any sense to me.
why doesn't a god just let us know that he exist in some way that all people could understand.

If there really was a God I am sure he would have!

Dinner With a Pioneer Couple Last Night
by dontplaceliterature inmy wife and i had dinner with a pioneer couple last night that we've been friends with for a long time.
they are both nice people, with the wife having a few dashes of pretentiousness mixed in.. usually when we are together, they always talk about pioneering, which makes some sense as it's the primary focus of thier lives.
however, it has gotten progressively more dominate in conversation over the last couple of years, to the point of being annoying.

I think they are angling for company (not so bad) or the use of some-one elses petrol (gasoline) as their's is getting low! Sorry to be so cynical.

Not "Ordained Minister" or "Spokesperson for God" but editor of a publishing company. Now ain't that the truth!!!

Advice for a non-witness dealing with a fiance's witness family
by JAG913 inmy name is jaime and i'm here because my fiance recommended this site.
i am not, nor will i ever be, a jehovah's witness.
i strongly believe it is a cult, but i also am respectful of the choice people make to associate themselves within the witness "world.

Hi Jaime and welcome to the site.
I agree with everything that has been said so far and wish you and your little family every happiness for the future.

how important was the hope of the paradise to you? and what do you hope in now?
by Curtains inmany become and remain witnesses because of the hope of living in a paradise earth.
for those who have left how did you cope with the loss of this hope?
or do you still have this hope?.

I never became a witness because of the Paradise and just parroted what they wanted to hear. I didn't have a heavenly hope either, well not the reigning with Christ type. I wanted to be in space and this was my secret hope, that we would get to go and see other planets.
The main reason for me going d2d so enthusiastically was to tell people not to blame God for all the problems in the world but Satan. Looking back now it was probably because as a child I was always held resposnsible for my younger brother's misdemeanors and got double punishment for not looking after him properly! (The smashed basement window punishment still grates even now. He lost 1 months pocketmoney but I lost 2 because I shouldn't have been letting him throw the marbles in the first place!).

Our Stories and Why They Matter
by Farkel instories are perhaps the most important thing we can contribute to others in our short life on planet earth.. mind you, i am not saying that stories are the most important things in our lives, because they are not.
the most important things in our lives are experiences, which are moment-by-moment things.
the best we can do with our own experiences is to tell stories about them, which will never convey the actual living of them.

I was recently asked why I hadn't posted my story. One day I will but it's unlikey to be on JWnet. Some of you guys can be so vicious and I am not prepared to subject myself to such negativity about myself when I am still not healed. I would need to be a lot stronger to even risk similar comments to those I have seen on this site.

I was always told the Book Study was held in peoples homes in preparation for the Big A. Has it stopped because they know it's not coming now?

Or that the JWs need the artificial light to nurture their artificial hope....
I like that!
